One Month

Izik, you are growing like a weed.  I love to watch the rolls on your legs and around your tiny little wrists grow daily.  I enjoy sitting and feeding you while I rub your itty-bitty feet and toes.  You are having more "awake" time and your sisters and brother get so excited when your eyes are opened.  They tell me, "He's awake mom, he's awake, I can see his eyes."  It makes me so happy to see how much your siblings love you.  The girls shower you with kisses and your brother is very interested in your feet and your diapers.  You get the hiccups a lot, your sleeping is hit and miss, some nights are good and some nights are rough. I'm thankful that you are a quiet baby, a sweet baby, and a huge blessing to the whole family.

Look at those rolls- we're going to eat you up!

I believe that is a smile

Missing Something?

Poor RJ! She has four teeth missing and is having a hard time eating, and to top it all off she has two more loose. I sure do love her smile though. I'm excited for her two front adult teeth to come in; they are so big and always look funny in little mouths. All part of growing up. The tooth fairy is going broke visiting our house and on more than one occasion has forgotten to visit entirely.

Keep smiling beautiful!

Exercise?

Greg wanted to take advantage of the beautiful weather today and head out for a hike. We did the Jones Creek Loop at Galena. Even though it was only 1.7 miles, I was really sore and tired. My body was letting me know that it's not quite back together yet. It was fun to spend time with the family outside after being on bed rest for almost three weeks. The kids loved playing in the water and petting all the dogs on the trail. We're looking forward to many more hikes this summer.

The kids found an Angry Bird slig shot tree. They all had to have their picture taken.

Time to play in the creek- we made magic potion, soup and caught lots of pretend fish. RJ even caught a few lobsters. I love it when they use their imaginations.

RJ had to pose on every rock and tree stump she saw. This one on the stump is my favorite, notice how she has her hands on her hips and her leg pointed out. Such a character.

I found a few treasures along the way. This was IJ's first outing, he did a great job riding with dad. Everytime we stopped IJ would make strange grunting noises- Don't stop dad!

AJ is getting better at "posing" for me- Handsome little guy

Little Brother

My regular doctor had to leave for another hospital to do a surgery, so the doctor on call asked Greg if he would like to help with the delivery. He was a bit surprised, but agreed to do it. I was glad that he wanted to do it, but amazed at the same time. He doesn't like blood ar anything related to the medical field. When he brought Izik to me I thought he was going to pass out. His eyes were bugging out and he looked a little pale. I found it comical that I had just given birth and I was asking Greg if he was ok and if he needed to sit down. It was a great experience for all of us, one that I'm sure he will never forget.

Unfortunately Izik had to go to the NICU after a few hours in the regular nursery. He was born 3 1/2 weeks early and was struggling a little bit with his lungs. They said he had premature lungs, but his x-ray was clear. He ended up spending about 6 days in the NICU. It wasn't as scary or stressful this time around because AJ had to be in for 2 weeks. We knew it would be OK, but we really wanted to get him home. It is always difficult when you have had a baby, but you don't get to bring them home. The kids kept asking where brother was and when did he get to come home. It was really sad for me, RJ would rub my belly and say that brother was out, but he doesn't get to come home. Needless to say I'm glad he had a shorter stay in the hospital.

We are so happy to have Izik Johan Burst home :) He was 7lbs 10oz and 19 1/2 inches. He is doing well at home, just very sleepy. It is definitely a struggle to wake him for feedings. I'm trying to enjoy each stage and not rush ahead to what comes next. Babies truly are miracles and gifts from our Heavenly Father. Welcome home little brother, WE LOVE YOU!!
