Anton and I finally made it. It was a long journey to get ready for the Journal Jog. I started training about two months in advance, but about 3 weeks into training I developed tendinitis in both knees (ouch) very painful to the point that I could hardly walk. After doing some research I decided that it was best not to run or exercise at all until the pain went away. It took about two weeks for them to feel good enough that I could hop on the elliptical machine for a week before the race. Definitely not the same as running. The day of the race came and I felt pretty good. About 2 miles into the 4.9 mile course Anton started crying and didn't show signs of letting up, now that my concentration was totally thrown off I decided to stop at an aid station and get some water. Anton had managed to work his way out of one of the straps and half of his buckle was unbuckled. I'm really glad I stopped because I think I would have ran him over if he would have fallen out :( Yikes! Anyways to make a long story short, I decided to cut out about a mile and a half of the course to head back to the finish line so I could get Anton out of the stroller. He continued to SCREAM so I was having a rough time decided how to fix the situation. I finally realized that his cute Nike running shoes that I had purchased for him specifically for race day might be bothering him. I pulled them off, along with his socks and literally about 30sec. later he was as happy as a clam and didn't cry the rest of the way. I wish I would have thought of it sooner, but we still had a good run. I managed to run about 3 miles of the 4.9 miles. Upon reflection of the race I was happy that at least I got some good exercise and pumped myself up for my next running adventure.

This is Anton and I at the start of the race. Zoom in on those troublesome little shoes.

I'm attempting to run with the "boys", that didn't last very long.

This was after I took a nice little short cut. I was just happy to be that much closer to the finish line.
