Just a "little" remodel

Wednesday, September 21, 2011 12:30pm. It was just like any other unassuming day. Fighting children, dirty diapers, hair falling out, just the usual. Anton had decided that he “DID” want to sit on the potty, so we headed off to the bathroom. There was a little razzle dazzle left over from the previous bathroom goers, so naturally we had to flush before the boy could take care of his business. When what to my wondering eyes should I behold, the toilet was filling to the brim, what joy. I quickly shut the water off and went to rest my weary bum on the bathroom tub. The surprises continued, as the tub was halfway full of mysterious liquid. Anton returned from around the corner, "it’s all wet", he said. Man, it keeps getting better, carpet soaking, floor flooded and shower over flowing. Panic? No, not quite yet. I headed outside to shut off the main water line. Priority one, carpet and master bathroom floor. Seven towels sopping wet and still not even close to done. I headed back into the guest bathroom to do a quick check, oh, heck! Seriously? Water coming out from under the toilet. What next? Finally, the plumbers fixed the back up (sewer back up,that is). Probably a tree root, they guessed. Another half-hour of sucking up water with the carpet cleaner and I called it quits. The damage was done, but worse than I thought.

Look how nice and clean the tub is

keep on soaking it up

yummy

see all that brown goodness

the path of destruction

keeps on going into the hallway

My wall! My brand new floor! AAAHHHH! I did have a tiny breakdown when I found out that they were going to have to take up some of my new bathroom floor. Just a tiny one though, no worries.

Two fans, one dehumidifier, one..something.. I don't even know. Everything was thoroughly disinfected and the dry out is underway.

As of today- everything is dry and clean. Now, just one small thing, getting everything put back together. My conclusion- When it rains, it pours, but for some of us it floods. And it seems that the water might just keep on coming.

Lucky goes to School

As soon as KJ started 1st grade the only thing she wanted to know was when she could bring Lucky to school. To my surprise the teacher was excited about the idea. I brought Lucky in and talked about what chickens need to be happy and healthy and then I read them one of my favorite books- "The perfect Nest" If you have not had the pleasure of reading this picture book then you are missing out. I do have to say though, that I almost cried, I know, big shocker right? Lucky was a little nervous during the whole visit, but once KJ came and sat next to her on the floor she nuzzled right into her side and closed her eyes. It was so sweet and I'm glad that KJ is such a good friend to Lucky the chicken. Lucky's visit even made the class newsletter.

Let the Good times Roll

Apple pancakes, water slides, hikes, ice cream, Lake Tahoe, what more could you ask for? Ok, there was also a lot of great food! Even though we were going most of the time we enjoyed spending time with our family.

Greg started the weekend out right with his world famous (well, I love them) apple pancakes- the sausage links weren't so bad either

the kiddos gobbled down the goodies without hesitation

Where's Waldo? Can you find seven people in this picture? Good luck

We littered the trail with people. It was quite a sight for the other hikers who passed by to see seven little ones marching up the hills

Anton had to pick up and carry his rocks to Grass Lake

Here are a few beauties I found along the way

My two favorite guys

the trail had several old mine out buildings- they made the perfect backdrop for lovely pictures of my girls (Anton was non-cooperative)

Sunset walk at the Temple

What possibly could go wrong?

This could possibly be one of the funniest things I've seen in a long time

that's my boy, double fisting the watermelon

Lunch is served

taking a little ride on the U.S.S Constitution

I found these awesome ice cream cups at World Market

So fun!!!

Thanks for a fun weekend
