No, I’m not talking about the Stephen King novel. This post is mostly for me, so I can laugh about it later. HA! HA! The “IT” I am referring to is diarrhea. Now might be a good time to stop reading, UNLESS you want to feel better about your day. We were coming home last night from seeing all the old hot rods when I smelled a horrific odor rising from the back seat. I knew it was going to be bad, but little did I know. Before I lifted Anton out of the car seat I assessed the damages. It had run all the way down his leg into his shoe, spilled over into the car seat, and seeped through the car seat buckle slits onto the van seat cover. I hurriedly placed Anton in the hall and franticly raced around the house collecting the necessary supplies, an old towel, a plastic bag, wipes and a fresh diaper. I think this one beats the all time wipee usage for a single diaper. I’d also like to mention that it is 9:15pm at this point. After the little guy is all freshened up and everyone is snugly in bed, the real work began. Taking apart a car seat is no easy task my friends, but after about an hour I think the task has been mastered, that is until I notice that “IT” has also dirtied up the van seat cover. Another half hour later all was well with the van, all four windows were rolled down, van seat was removed and car seat was successfully taken apart. Mission Accomplished, Right? Not quite. Upon reentering the house after the massive clean-up effort in the garage I noticed brown spots on the hallway floor. “IT” had continued to run down Anton’s leg while I was busy collecting cleaning supplies. Ok- hallway cleaned, check. It is now about 10:30 and I’m starting not one, not two, but three separate loads of laundry. The van seat cover has to be washed separately on the delicate cycle, medium load, warm water. It’s amazing what you learn when you read the labels. Then, the car seat cover with Anton’s clothes, followed by the towel (I certainly was not going to get towel fuzz all over the car seat cover.) After I hung everything out to dry and sat down to cry it was 12:20. Luckily “IT” has not shown his ugly face around here today. Now all I have to do is figure out how to put this back together.
Oh, Yuck. Glad he's feeling better today.
