"Mom, am I beautiful?"

Raija comes up to me this afternoon sporting her pink headband and asks, "Mom, am I beautiful?" I answered her immediately with, "yes, you are very beautiful." Upon further examination, I had to laugh to myself. Her shirt is obviously stained and dirty, her face has not yet been cleaned up from lunch, and to top it all off, her hair is standing straight up. What is beauty anyways?
